Dreaming and Painting Red Sunflowers...

So I recently had the inspired impulse to create a monumentally big painting bursting with a field of red sunflowers. Working from a picture of wild yellow sunflowers I took last summer along the Brandywine River, I set to work, especially focussing on strong color contrasts and thick textures, applied with the palette knife to a pre-textured canvas.
